Before he ever turned pro, Jay Cutler was spending around 50,000 dollars a year on food, back in 1995. That is over 100,000 dollars in today’s money and more than most people earned in a year. In his own words, the future four-time Mr. Olympia explains what his diet and grocery shopping looked like as a young bodybuilder.
Jay ate around four pounds of meat a day, bought 150 pounds of chicken at a time, filled his whole fridge with 30 dozen eggs, grilled all his chicken and steak in the backyard and ate every two hours with rice and pasta. And the craziest thing on his shopping list needed two freezers.
If you are curious how much bodybuilders really eat, how Jay Cutler bulked up in the 90s or what real bodybuilding meal prep looked like, this is one of the craziest food stories in bodybuilding.
